Review

“I wanted to tell you about how I recently used your book “Brody, Lucie and the Food Fairy.” I have a Grade 1 class that started asking a T1D [Type 1 Diabetes] child about his insulin and CGM pods and why he sometimes poked his finger. The EA [Education Assistant] said he was too shy to talk about it so she asked me if I had any learning materials on T1D they could use to educate the class. I brought your book to show her and we both were unsure how this young grade would do with the length of it. So what she did was read them a little of it over 4 days while they all ate lunch. The children started asking questions but the T1D child was still too shy to respond so the EA answered their questions. However, by the end of the book, the T1D child started to talk about his diabetes and answered all their questions himself! Yay!! So exciting – the class learned about T1D and the T1D child became comfortable talking about his diabetes. Thanks so much for writing the book so that I could share it with the class!” – Anonymous
